Bach 6C Mt. Vernon mouthpiece. This is a very unique mouthpiece only because a story follows it! This is a very old mouthpiece. I was playing in a jazz joint one night and in comes walking Reds Rodney. So when I got done the set Reds says to me, "hey kid you sound ok"! Ah thanks, I reply, so he says to me is that a 17c1 your playing? I said yes it is, hmmm so he pulls out this 6c from his pocket and says here wanna trade? So on goes the conversation, and I said yeah sure why not. Here’s the good part, he says to me this Sax player gave it to me ( I don’t recall his name) so he continues to tell me that the Sax player said it belonged to Chet Baker, So I replied then why don’t you keep it? So Reds says "it just don’t fit me", see Reds had a lot of trouble with his teeth, a lot of people didn’t know that !! So I played the rest of the job with the 17C1 and I still have it. Anyway I had it up on line but I took it down so I am putting up the 6C instead. So that’s the story! This was around 1973-74. Many years ago I was about 20-21 yrs old. Now I am close to 70. I’ve had it plated a few times, it plays really well! To me it feels somewhere between a 6 and 5 sometimes a 3, but that’s just MY chops. Someone else is going to feel something different. Good luck God Bless.
