Highlander CCG/TCG Swordmaster collectible card game Methos Collection. If you are looking at this auction, you already know what this is – but I will explain. Back in the mid to late 90’s, Highlander was a moderately played collectible card game. However like most CCG’s of the time, it started to lose its player base due to several reasons. In an attempt to do a money grab, Thunder Castle Games decided to release limited edition sets for the ultra popular Methos and Duncan MacLeod personas. The sets were advertised as limited to only 5,000 sets each with a MSRP of .95 USD. The cards were very over-powered and the set was designed to make the average player buy multiple sets. Alas the power level of these set cards was just another nail in the Highlander 1E era. Now as I learned from insiders who worked with/at TCG, the sets were subject to a whole bunch of production issues. The rumor was that playtesters and staff had to hand-assemble and collate each set. Leftover packaging was used to save money. Ever corner that could be cut was cut. Therefore in my opinion, far less than 5,000 sets ever made it out to distribution.
