Vintage Optimus 8R Camp Stove with Box and Extras
in lightly cleaned, as found condition.
This is a Gorgeous Vintage Optimus 8R stove for use with gas in nearly new condition with extras as follows:
The Stove
is in magnificent condition. Original paint is NICE! There is some very, very light scratching, there is paint missing on the opening hinge, and the bottom back corner has a very small amount of wear. Otherwise the blue paint is nearly flawless, smooth, and glossy fresh. Drop-down front works perfectly to expose fuel tank and place burner in the correct position. The brass fuel tank and shield are both in gorgeous lightly used condition. Light scratches in places and some light patina. No flaws apparent. Fuel cap and gasket look great. Priming cup, flame ring, and flame spreader are all in good condition, no dents, nothing misshapen, light burn evidence. Original wrench is in place and included. This stove comes with the metal Regulating Key with chain rather than the red control knob, which is pictured on the box. This stove has been fired at least once, but it does not appear to have been used often if at all after that. There is no evidence of food residue or other evidence indicating frequent use.
The Box
for Optimus 8R is in fair condition. One side was removed to use as a sleeve for the stove. It is banged up on that side and has a tear on the other flap. The model depicted in the retro photo shows a red control knob, which does not reflect this actual stove which has the regulating key.
The Extras
include an original owner-added kit consisting of: One small white funnel with original price tag of 15¢ from Mountain Sports; One eyedropper; One metal Safesport Japan keychain can opener; One metal matches case with striker, marked "Made in Hong Kong". The only thing missing from the kit that would have been useful to the original owner is the pump. Perhaps that's why this stove is in such incredible condition!
All in untested condition. Will be shipped without gas. I have personally used and sold many camp stoves, this is one of the nicest I've put up for sale. A collectors item that will last you forever... Don't wait!
